It had to be light ... and so 9-year-old Janne set the pace for our team at the Kiel dragon boat race.
We took part in the race on September 9 with 24 people - together with 66 other teams from companies and clubs. Depending on their composition, they were divided into "Mixed", "Ladies", "Open" and the professional "Canoe". After two preliminary rounds, the third race decided the placings.
It was the first time our team had taken part. "Of course we practiced beforehand, but we were realistic about our chances of placing ..." smiles team manager Julia Trautmann. "During the tournament, however, we picked up speed and increased our pace with every lap. In the end, we came 21st out of 38 in the mixed group!
There was also colorful hustle and bustle on land: around the Hörn, dragon boaters competed for the best costumes - from fire dwarves to Vikings to (Marvel) superheroes.
Our team is unanimous: an all-round successful event that we will be attending again next year!
